Geocache Description:

Disclaimer: the info used for this is my version of paraphrasing Wikipedia, if I'm butchering any of it, I am sorry.

Interstate 80 is a transcontinental freeway that runs from downtown San Francisco California to Teaneck New Jersey in the New York Metro area. It was designated in 1956 as one of the original routes of the Interstate Highway System. The final segment of I-80 was opened in 1986 near the western edge of Salt Lake City Utah and coincidentally dedicated near the 30th birthday of the Interstate Highway System. It is the second-longest Interstate, 2,899.59 miles, I-90 being longer. And passes within 10 miles of Chicago, Cleveland, and New Your City.

I-80 Closely approximates the route of the historic Lincoln Highway, the first road across the United States. It also traces other historically significant travel routes, such as The Oregon Trail, California Trail, the first transcontinental airmail route, and with the exception of the Great Salt Lake area, the entire route of the first transcontinental railroad.

I-80 enters Nebraska west of Bushnell. The western portion of I-80 runs near Colorado but never enters Colorado, the intersections of I-80 and I-76 is visible from the Nebraska-Colorado State line, from this intersection to Grand Island, I-80 runs in the valley of the South Platte and Platte Rivers.

Anywhere in Interstate 80, the longest straight stretch is approx72 miles long, running between exit 318 near Grand Island, and mile marker 390 near Lincoln. And, in Nebraska, parts of I-80  is marked as a Blue Star Memorial Highway.
