Many of the fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm are well known today. Several have been adapted into Disney movies, while others are classic children's stories. However, they've evolved over the years, and often, the modern versions are a far cry from the originals.
Cinderella is one of the most well known Grimm tales because of the Disney adaptation. But, did you know that in the original tale, the prince's ball was actually three nights, with Cinderella going and disappearing each night? Did you know that her dress was not blue, as in the Disney animated adaptation, but silver and gold? Did you know her slippers were not even glass? Did you know there weren't any singing mice? And most surprising of all, there was no fairy godmother! I encourage you to read the original tale here: Cinderella by The Brothers Grimm.
