On the Seven Lakes property, the first large lake that you come across is called Blue lake. Several of the lakes were connected by ditches, and are formed in rounded, shallow, solution depressions within sandy upland communities, where water collects from lateral ground water seepage. These lakes serve as aquifer recharge areas. Water is nearly always present, except during extreme droughts. The area once known as a drainage basin originates in seven lakes, before drainage canals were dug, water moved overland as sheet flow through several broad marshes. Catch-and-release fishing and picnicking are available.
