Geocache Description:

Seepage Slope

Seepage slope is an open, grass-sedge dominated community kept continuously moist by groundwater seepage. It occurs in dissected topography, with 30 to 50-foot elevation differences, and is usually bordered by well-drained sandhill or upland pine communities. There are about 881 acres of wet flatwoods mapped in HHSP. Many of these acres replace areas formerly designated as seepage slope, as well as some areas of mesic flatwoods, and baygall.

The FNAI description for seepage slope limits its range to the panhandle and includes indicator characteristics not found at the park, such as 50- foot elevation changes. HHSP is not currently mapped as having any “seepage slope.”

THIS CACHE IS LOCATED WITHIN HIGHLANDS HAMMOCK STATE PARK. THE PARK IS OPEN FROM 8AM TIL SUNSET, 365/6 DAYS A YEAR, INCLUDING ALL HOLIDAYS. THERE IS A FEE TO ENTER THE PARK.
