Geocache Description:

On May 13, 1990, the Lake Shore Fire Department received an emergency water rescue call at the Walnut Creek Access area in Fairview, PA (Lake Erie).Upon arrival it was determined that there were two fishermen in the water. The first fisherman swam to the shore. The Fish Commission had a boat in the area and picked up several members of the fire department to resuce the 2nd fisherman. As the boat headed to the channel they encountered very rough sea conditions. Ultimately the boat capsized. Everyone aboard was rescued except Lt. Mark Wunch. There is a memorial to him as you enter the park.

The cache is in the wooded section of the park. Please cover it WELL . And then some!  It may be snow accessible depending upon the amount of snow.  Bring your own writing instrument. Park is only open during daylight hours so no night caching. There may at times be muggles nearby.

The ammo box cache has been stolen and replaced with something smaller, about 5 steps from where the box was. Check out a geostack.
