Bridge to Hon Mot

Phú Quốc, in my opinion, is a little slice of paradise. I like this island so much that I placed a geocache here, on tiny Hòn Một Islet off Phu Quoc's northeast coast. This little cache, GC6KHWR, has become quite popular.

When I placed the cache I was concerned about the amount of garbage from picnickers and fishermen that litters this charming place. Those who have found this cache, likewise, have logged that they enjoy the natural tranquility of Hon Mot, but are saddened by the amount of trash.

The reason for this CITO

So every year, beginning in May of 2017, I have hosted CITO events on Hon Mot.

In 2018, a news crew from World Wildlife Federation Vietnam even pitched in to help! Their television broadcast helped spread the word about environmental issues, as well as the positive impact that geocaching has on the world community.

2018 CITO

2019 CITO

I will be back on Phu Quoc in April of 2020, and now it's time for the fourth annual Hon Mot CITO. Here are the details of the event:

  • When: Friday April 3, 2020, 9:30AM - 10:30AM
  • Where: Coordinate location, picnic area (Location of geocache GC6KHWR)

I'm starting the event at 9:30AM to avoid the midday heat. I will be wearing a yellow CITO safety vest so it will be easy to recognize me.

I will provide trash bags and drinking water. Please post a note if you will attend so that I can make sure to bring enough supplies.

As an incentive and thank you, CITO trackables will be given away!

If you plan to attend, I advise bringing water and wearing sports shoes, gloves, a hat, mosquito repellant, and sunscreen. If it rains I will update the event information.

Let's work together to make this little piece of paradise cleaner for all of us to enjoy. Hope to see you there!
