All geocaches are created to honor the Ferris legacy and help to educate the general public in a new and exciting way.

The turn of the century brought organized football to Ferris Institute with the addition of a football and track field constructed in the field behind Old Main. It gained the moniker “Stony Field” because of the stones that popped up each spring on the field.
The old Ferris stadium nicknamed "stony field" for reasons obvious to those who played on it, was the focus of outdoor athletic competition at Ferris for many years. The stands were built in the 1930's under Roosevelt's Work Progress Administration. It was dismantled in the 50's to make way for campus development.
