Apex Park is a small public area between two bakeries in the main street of Ulverstone. The park was refurbished about 1998 and involved a great deal of community consultation and the installation of a range of art works, some designed by students from local schools. There is an information sign on the wall of one of the bakeries detailing the design of the park and the symbolism in the art works.
There is, however, one feature which is not described. At the Reiby Street entrance to the park is a diamond shaped metal plaque with geographic coordinates. The information is in the form

The coordinates do not relate to the location. If the coordinates represent degrees and decimal degrees, three of the four possibile locations are in oceans, the other in a very sparsely populated part of the world. If the coordinates are minutes and decimal minutes, they do not relate to the immediate area (the location of the plaque is S 41° 9.434' E 146° 10.288') nor anything in the wider area of Ulverstone. We could not find an alternative datum which approximated the location of the park to the information on the plaque.The place indicated by these coordinates is a mystery, the coordinates a conunmdrum.
The local council could not shed any light any the local history museum is closed whilst a new home is constructed. So, we are at a loss to explain the significance and location of these coordinates.
However, we can use these coordinates to indicate the location of a cache. The cache is located at:
