This is a bit of an out of the ordinary event. Come pay tribute to the late artist, Andy Warhol, as we gather to celebrate his birthday. Every year dozens of people show up to wish him a happy birthday and sometimes there is even cake.
Andy Warhol was born on this date in 1928 and the first year that the cache event was held, when we arrived for our flashmob, we found a party already underway!! We had so much fun celebrating his birthday with the regulars, and they loved that we were there and they invited us back. Cachers have been joining in the celebration since 2014, even during years that no event cache got posted!
So, let us all meet at his marker around 5pm. We will mingle around until at least 7 taking group pictures every 30 minutes or so. Feel free to bring a birthday party snack or beverage to share with others, but this is not required. I will have a bin of plates and utensils in the car in case they are needed.
So that we are easily identified, I challenge you all to wear something that says you're a geocacher without you having to say you are a geocacher!! The crazier the better. Bonus points for being on theme with Warhol too!! There will be a prize given to the best by vote...and one for the person who travels the farthest too!!
There is a Webcam Waymark watching his marker that you can log as well as Andy's grave waymark which is listed as a grave of a famous person. Also, if you would like, you can visit the webcam website and find your own image...if you can't do it on site, just take note of what time you posed so it is easier to find yourself - oh, and a brand new virtual cache will be published earlier in the day that might just require you to check out that webcam!!
Please be respectful when parking, and if you are of able body, reserve the closer parking for those that aren't as mobile. There maybe some uphill walking involved to get to the actual gravesite. Also note that the entrance to the cemetery is on Connor Road, not route 88!!
