Some time ago...almost 5 years to be more precise, I took a bunch of Scouts from the 1st Torbay Scout Troop out to teach them a bit about Geocaching along the trails near here. We found a bunch of the Torbay Stroll Series, and just before we finished up for the evening the Scouts wanted to place one of their own. So they found a spot on the pole line to place their cache. They got their coordinates and one of their Scouters was going to submit the cache. Unfortunately this never happened!
Fast forward to a few weeks back when I was in the area of the pole line seeking out a new cache and I remembered that the Scouts had placed theirs very close by. So after making the find on the new cache, I checked for the Scouts cache on my way back to the main trail....Sure enough it was still there. It was in pretty hard shape, but still there. So I picked it up with the intentions of redeploying it in the area.
Now it's all cleaned up with new swag. I even managed to rescue the original log book, even though it was pretty wet when I found it, so it can still be used. The original date of the hide is still legible on the first page, June 9, 2015.
So this is actually a new, old cache..lol
I couldn't get a spot near the original location but managed to get a spot in the general area of where we hiked that evening. So now this one is hanging in a winter friendly manner instead of being tucked under a tree. Hopefully it will stay dry this time.
All the original swag was completely ruined so I placed a few Scouting related items in this one to get things going again.
