I came across the Facebook page for the Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History & Reconciliation Foundation not that long ago, and saw that they were working on a Civil Rights Trail in Tuscaloosa. I was frankly surprised at the number of sites and stories that there were to tell in Tuscaloosa. I was born after the Civil Rights movement, but like most Alabamians, I am familiar with the well-known events in Birmingham, Montgomery and Selma. However, I didn't know much of Tuscaloosa's Civil Rights legacy, beyond Autherine Lucy, Vivian Malone, and James Hood (students who attempted to integrate the University of Alabama). When I was awarded this Adventure Lab, I decided that I would use the opportunity to share this history with other folks who might not know it.
