You have found your next adventure! Thank you for joining us for the "Visit Centre County" GeoTour as we show you some of our most favorite caching locations to include state parks, beautiful vistas, and historical points of interest! Our team of GeoTour planners have worked very hard to put together various cache types to keep the GeoTour interesting and challenging; however, no geocache should be beyond a 3/3.5 for terrain and/or difficulty! We are pleased to show you around our County and hope that you will enjoy the GeoTour and complete your passport to collect your custom GeoTour Geocoin (there is a minimum number of caches required to receive coin)!
If you will be caching with some young ‘uns, we have a Jr. Geocaching Passport available for children, 12 yrs. and under, with a special prize for their hard work too! Caches will be marked as "family-friendly" and should correlate to the Jr. Geocaching Passport.
Download your "Visit Centre County" GeoTour passport and/or your Jr. Geocaching Passport or pick-up paper copies at the following coordinates: N 40° 48.879; W 077° 51.274 (Happy Valley Adventure Bureau). You’ll return your passport to the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau when complete and collect your prize if you meet the minimum requirements!
The "Visit Centre County" GeoTour is brought to you by Centre Region Parks and Recreation, the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, and Groundspeak, Inc. We are pleased that you’ll be joining us in Happy Valley soon! Bring on the Adventures!
About Spring Creek Park
The park features 36.3 acres to explore. It features an adult/youth softball field, adult/youth baseball field, basketball courts, charcoal grills, drinking fountain, fishing, pavilions, picnic tables, playground, tennis courts, volleyball, walking path, and restrooms. Maintained by CRPR, Spring Creek Park is owned by College Township.
Spring Creek flows through the park. The creek is a fertile, 22 mile long limestone stream tributary of the Bald Eagle Creek, joining the Bald Eagle Creek downstream in Milesburg, PA. Spring Creek rises near Boalsburg, just a few miles upstream from the park. The creek's watershed is home to various rare, threatened, or endangered plants and animals. It harbors one of the most productive wild trout fisheries in the state of Pennsylvania.
Spanning the creek at the location of the geocache is a wooden covered bridge. If using the closest parking, cross the bridge to the far side to find the cache container in the corner of the bridge. If using the farther parking, you will approach the bridge on the same side as the geocache. Enjoy the scenic creek and bridge while searching for the cache.
This cache is placed in Spring Creek Park with the explicit permission of the Centre Region Parks and Recreation Authority. (Permit # CRPR-2020-03-02)
Parking is available at either of two provided parking waypoints listed with this cache description.
Please note park hours are dusk until dawn. Please, no after-hours geocaching in the park. This is NOT a 24/7 geocache. Thank you for your understanding.
Family Friendly: This is a family-friendly location with a relatively easy-to-find geocache, nearby playground and sports facilities, and a lovely creek setting running through the park. Please supervise children when near the creek. Staying on the established paths when approaching the bridge from either side of the creek is advised.
Please be aware of possible muggle activity in the area when retrieving and returning the container. Please try to hide as you found it so that it is not visible from casual view. (Placing the rectangular container up and down on its end will help keep it out of view.) Thanks!
This cache container is large enough to hold small swag items in addition to the log book. Hopefully young ones will enjoy trading for one of the small items inside. Feel free to message mrGreen317 if the container needs restocked or holds any item not appropriate for the family-oriented nature of this geocache placement.
This geocaching listing was prepared by littleEEE's dad, mrGreen317
