This haunted property became the downfall to Francis Schroedel. It was his curse yet an epic hotel that never opened to the public. Mr. Schroedel left behind a legacy which include Imperial Estates and Camelot Forest in Brookfield, Regal Manors in New Berlin, Embassy Estates in Menomonee Falls, and St Paul's Catholic Church in Genesse Depot. These are local to Waukesha county and other properties reside in the Milwaukee area. On this property the only part that stands currently, the man made ski hill and the curse.
Eventually as the story goes on, the state acquired the property and was combined with the Kettle Moraine State Forest. It truly is a gem though, plentiful wildlife from beavers to deer. Birds of all types to grand oak trees. As I adventured the property I learned that the man made ski hill still existed, and I had to find it. As you arrive you will find a partial structure to help you climb to the top which overlooks the entire property at an elevation of 906'. This hike, this curse if you make it to the top is well worth the adventure.
