OAK

Restored Tallgrass Prairie:: This area of tallgrass prairie, dominated by plants such as Big Bluestem, Indian Grass, Tall Coreopsis and Prairie Dock, was restored by collecting seeds from local prairie remnants left over from the days of the great, glacial lakes that covered the area. These plants have many unique adaptations which help them to survive what a typical prairie might encounter; such as draught, high winds and fire, which is an important tool in maintaining a healthy prairie.

The permit for this cache was submitted prior to the 4/15/2020 deadline and was approved by Kevin Arnold | Southern District Interpretive Services Supervisor Huron-Clinton Metroparks on 04/12/21
