This type of hide is known as an LPC or "Lamp Post Cache". Actually, until I started geocaching I never gave those plastic (sometimes metal) covers on lamp posts a second thought. They are practically a hiding spot in all the places you normally go and no one touches them because they're everywhere and all they really do is hide the bolts...and geocaches! These types of hides are commonly found by those who are working on daily challenges and need a quick PNG or "Park N Grab" to satisfy finding a geocache for a certain day. People will save easy and close-to-home geocaches for a rainy day, so-to-speak. Maybe they're on a streak and want to find one every single day, maybe they're filling a calendar grid and need something quick, or maybe their spouse thinks they're "running errands" and they sneak in an easy one. For a variety of reasons, LPCs serve an important purpose.
