Geocache Description:

See aare kutsub teid põhjalikult tutvuma Merirahu jalakäijate sillaga :)

Merirahu sild on modernne puidust jalgteesild Rocca al Mare piirkonnas Merirahu elurajoonis. Sild on ehitatud 2000. aastal.

This cache invites you to thoroughly explore the Merirahu pedestrian Bridge :)

Merirahu Bridge is a modern wooden footbridge in the Rocca al Mare area. The bridge was built in 2000.

The bridge has a length of 35.6 m, a width of 3… 5.5 m and a bridge opening of 24 m. The balcony facing the bridge makes the structure asymmetrical. The structural scheme consists of two arches with three hinges of variable radius, inclined towards the central axis of the bridge. The cross beams supporting the deck rest on the cards and partially hang on them. The deck plate consists of wooden beams nailed tightly against each other and to cross beams.

By the autumn of 2018, the wooden parts of the bridge were so dilapidated and dangerous that the bridge was closed and renovated in June 2019 in the interests of human safety. During the renovation, the glulam beams were partially replaced and partially restored (cleaned and refinished).

The developers once planned a marina in Merirahu, and the magnificent arched bridge was to become its landmark. But it was never built.
