Geocache Description:

This cache can be found in the middle of the Foley-Balmer Natural Area - a small wooded area with a single trail, connecting Lancaster Rd and SW Collins Ct.  Parking is easier on the Collins Ct end, but the end of the trail near Lancaster is more interesting, dropping down a ridge between Tryon Creek and Quail Creek to their confluence at a beautiful and substantial steel footbridge installed in 2019.

The Foley and Balmer properties were purchased by Metro through the Metro 26-26 bond measure. The Foley property had been used primarily as a stable for over 90 years. Before that it was a rich and lush forest with Tryon Creek running through the heart of it. Today there is an abundance of plant and animal life present. The natural area includes both meadows and forested areas with a walking path and a footbridge crossing Tryon Creek.

After grabbing the cache, be sure to continue down to the other end of Collins Ct and check out Marshall Park.

I've adjusted the terrain and difficulty up by 1/2 pt each due to the difficulty a lot of folks have had finding this one!  Use your geo-senses!

Extra non-hint hint:  bal·us·ter (noun)

  1. a short pillar or column, typically decorative in design, in a series supporting a rail or coping.

This cache complies with the geocaching policies for Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) properties.  Please respect park hours when caching.
