Geocache Description:

Broad Haven Swapsies Hotel 4
This is a small cache that will have room for some small swapsies. It’s a very small clip top box. There is no room for a pen.

I love a cache trail! To tick off several in one walk and get all those smiley faces… but we were so bored of ‘just another micro’ and I’ve heard it over and over. So we’ve invented a Swapsies Hotel cache trail! Each of the 5 geocaches in this short trail have enough room for Swapsies! We hope there will be something exciting in every single one!
Swapsies rules… please only leave quality swaps!

They need to be like for like.

We realise that if you stumble upon a cache and only have a mouldy sweet/a broken crayon/20p pence/a lovely but boring pebble on your person, that you may not have anything better to offer but please keep them! Maybe plan to return with something better! Imagine the next child’s disappointment to find these items. If you don’t have a suitable swap, please don’t swap! Easy! You can still log the find and get your smiley face! If you are planning this cache in advance, there are a few shops in Broad Haven that may provide a suitable swap, or rummage around at home. They don’t need to be new, reuse/recycling is encouraged, just good condition, not torn or broken. Decent party bag/cracker toys are good, and even those dreaded fast food restaurant toys.. they may as well get a 2nd use somehow!

Plastic… Broad Haven & Little Haven are a plastic free community. This means we think carefully about our impact and use of plastic items and try to replace them where possible. The outdoor nature of geocaches means plastic is widely used for containers and Swapsies. It’s difficult to avoid. But we can at least reuse! After your child has got bored of their new Swapsie, please save it for reuse.. maybe they can pop it back and swap it again next time or in another geocache? If your swapsie came in a little plastic ziplock bag, please repack it with anther swapsie for another geocaching adventure.

This whole trail is only about 1mile from the car park near the YHA to cache 5, although it’s uphill most of the way (but downhill most of the way back!). Start at the YHA and follow the path up the side of the Coastguard Station. This sheltered walk is fab on a blustery day but can get pretty muddy in places. There’s a stream and a bridge for pooh sticks, a couple of rope swings and an old broken tree to climb on. You can continue back to the village either by going down the road (left) or straight across the road and left along the coast path.

Photos of Swapsies you have found or left is encouraged! Please share any disappointing swaps so others can see what’s good and what’s not. (The name of this trail of caches has recently been changed from Lockdown 1-5 as we thought this was a much better idea!)
