COVID-19 : PREVENTION:
The two main ways the virus spreads are either through inhaling the droplets of someone else’s sneeze/cough or touching your eyes, nose or mouth with the virus on your hands.
General preventive measures to help stop the spread of disease include:
- Avoid walking through someone else’s “cloud” of droplets after they recently sneeze or cough.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
- Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Wash your hands both before AND after you touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
- Avoid contact with people who are sick with respiratory symptoms.
- Stay home when you are sick. This includes if you have minor symptoms such as, cough, sniffles, sneezing.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue. Make sure to wash your hands afterwards and throw away the tissue.
- Keep objects and surfaces clean (soap and water OR sanitized wipes).
- Get enough sleep, eating healthy foods, drink fluids to stay hydrated and be physically active.
- Providing adequate ventilation and disinfect surfaces and shared equipment, such as keyboards or phones.
- Monitor developments on the spread of novel coronavirus and following public health recommendations as new information is released.
