Geocache Description:

20 August 2022, 18:00 - 20:00

Since 2020, when geocaching reached its 20-year milestone, I have been patiently awaiting the day when I could organize this Event so that we could gather and celebrate geocaching’s anniversary.  Now that there has been some headway in dealing with the pandemic, I can finally put things in motion.

In addition to celebrating geocache’s anniversary, we get to celebrate the recent changes made to the North Attleboro town forest, now called Bragg & MacDonald Memorial Town Forest.  Almost 2 miles of trails have been added with potential to increase.  There’s also a dog park (separate parks for big and little dogs) and plans for a picnic area and bird sanctuary.

The Event is being held in the early evening (6pm to 8pm).  Why, you ask?  The Town of North Attleboro Management has given Attleboro Geocachers Alliance permission to set up a night cache.  It’s hoped that some of you will choose to stay beyond 8pm (when it gets dark) and complete the cache.  For daylight hours we’ve also set up several traditional caches and earthcaches.

So, come join us for an early evening of celebration and comradery!

Time: 6pm to 8pm.

Place: North Attleboro Town Forest

Date: 8/20/2022

NOTE:

  1. The new trails still have some small stumps and roots that could get you off balance.  Several of us have walked the trails a few times without problems, however, IF YOU GET INJURED AND NEED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE, CALL 911 AND BE SURE TO LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE IN THE NORTH ATTLEBORO TOWN FOREST OFF PLAIN STREET.  EMS covers several towns, so you want to be certain that they know where you are.
  2. Please bring your own chair in case the picnic area has not been completed.  I will message everyone if it’s completed in time for the event.
  3. Attleboro Geocachers Alliance will provide water and snacks.  If you’d like anything else (alcoholic beverages are NOT allowed), please feel free to bring your own… and share some with Groopsoop (LOL…jk)
  4. If you had left a prediction in Time will Tell: A Geocacher’s Time capsule back in 2000 but did not attend out May Event, you can get it at this event.
  5. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO COMPLETE THE NIGHT CACHE ONCE IT GETS DARK, PLEASE CONSIDER DRESSING THE PART BY COMING TO THE EVENT DRESSED AS A GHOSTHUNTER, GHOST, GHOUL, OR GOBLIN.  AND BRING YOUR IMPROV, ACTING AND IMAGINATION SKILLS.  IT'S INTENDED TO BE INTERACTIONAL.
