Der fünfte Cache der kleinen Runde ist dem ersten Spaziergang nach den Lockerungen der Corona-Beschränkungen gewidmet. Er liegt weniger als 1 km von unserer Finca entfernt.
Wir wollen mit einer kleinen Runde eine typische Barrancolandschaft des Südens zeigen. In diesem Bereich fließen drei Barrancos zusammen, einer davon ist der Barranco Cruz de las Animas.
In diesen Barrancos gab es früher kleine Quellen, die eine bescheidene Landwirtschaft ermöglichten. Man sieht heute noch viele verlassene Terrassenfelder und ein altes Pumpenhaus am Weg.
Die Quellen sind jetzt meist ausgetrocknet. Heute werden meist nur noch die flacheren Hänge bebaut, und das Wasser kommt aus dem umfangreichen Kanalsystem, von dem ein wichtiger Zweig oberhalb unserer Caches zu sehen ist.
An unserem Rundweg sieht man alte Höhlen, die früher als Ziegenställe dienten. Außerdem noch eine alte Wohnhöhle mit Toilette, deren Abfluss einige Meter bis zum Barracorand führt. In den letzten Jahrzehnten wurden viele der verfallenen Gebäude oberhalb der Barrancos zumeist von Deutschen und Engländern zu wunderbaren Fincas ausgebaut.
Der Rundweg durch die Barrancos führt über alte Ortsverbindungswege, die heute kaum noch genutzt werden und deshalb stellenweise nicht mehr ganz leicht zu finden sind. Beachtet bitte unsere Wegpunkte. Drei unserer fünf Caches liegen entweder direkt am Rundweg oder nur wenige Meter davon entfernt. Nur die Nummern 3 und 5 liegen etwas abseits auf einem Hügeln, von denen aus man eine wunderbare Rundumsicht von den Bergen bis zum Meer und auf die gesamte Barrancolandschaft hat.
Der Weg ist einschließlich der Abzweigungen zu Nr. 3 und 5 etwas mehr als 3 km lang und hat knapp 150 m Höhendifferenz. Bitte vermeidet eigenmächtige Ausstiege aus den Barrancos. Einige sind gefährlich oder zumindest voller Kakteen. Außerdem landet ihr abseits der Wege schnell in privaten und oft eingezäunten Bereichen. Ihr könnt den Rundweg an WP1 oder WP3 beginnen. Die Abzweigung zu Cache 3 befindet sich an WP2, die Abzweigung zu Cache 5 an WP5. Von WP2 aus könnt Ihr auch den nur 150 m entfernten Cache "Aqueduct" besuchen. Wenn Ihr von Cache 3 oder 4 zu den Caches 2 und 1 absteigen wollt, geht dies nur bei WP4, keinesfalls im Barrancotal!

The fifth cache of the small round is dedicated to the first walk after the strong corona restrictions. It is situated less than 1 km from our finca.
With a small round about we would like to show you a typical landscape of “barrancos” in the south. In this area three “barrancos” join together, one of them is called “Barranco Cruz de las Animas”.
During earlier times there were little springs inside these “barrancos”, which allowed modest agriculture. Today one can still see a number of desolated terrace fields and an old pump-house along the way.
Most of the springs have dried up. Today farming is being done on the more level slopes. The water for irrigation comes from the extensive canal system of which an important part is to be seen above our Caches.
Along our walk around you can see ancient caves, that served as goat shelters in earlier times; as well as an old cave which was used for living in, the drainage system of which leads into the “barranco”.
During the last decades a number of dilapidated buildings have been renovated and transformed into marvellous “fincas”, the work mostly done by British or Germans.
The round about through the “barrancos” leads via old local ways and paths. These are scarcely used nowadays and therfore sometimes not easily to be found. Make sure you take note of our path-marks.
Three of our five Caches either lie directly alongside the round about or within reach of a few metres. Only Nos. 3 and 5 are situated a little further away on a little hills. From there you will have wonderful views around over the mountains to the sea and across the complete landscape of the “barrancos”.
Inculuding the little turn-offs to Nos. 3 and 5, this walk around has just a little more than 3 km in length and a difference in altitude of about 150 m. Please avoid unauthorized climbing out of the “barrancos”, as it could be dangerous or at least full of cactus. Off-road you might easily end up in private property or fenced-in areas. You can start the way at WP1 or WP3. The turn-off to Cache 3 is at WP2, the turn-off to Cache 5 at WP5. From WP2 you can also visit the cache "Aqueduct" in only about 150 m. If you come from Cache 3 or 4 and will go down to the Caches 2 and 1, there is only one possibility at WP4. Do not try it in the ground of the barranco!
