Story Mill Community Park is the largest park in Bozeman. The park opened on 7/20/2019 and has been recognized with 2 prestigious awards: 2017 Montana Wetland Stewardship and 2017 Presidents Award from the ID-MT Association of Landscape Architect. The 60 acres of the park is amazing with so much to do; miles of trails, playground, climbing boulder, teaching garden area, pavilion, picnic areas, labyrinth, sculptures, amphitheater, fishing along E. Gallatin River, nature sanctuary, 15 acres of wetlands for observing birds/ wildlife and so much more.
West of the park is the Old Story Mill founded in 1885 by Nelson Story. The land contained a cattle stockyard and a slaughterhouse. The park's property includes the Story Mills Spur Trail that follows alongside incomplete sections of the two railroads lines which had once ran nearby the mill. In the future the trails will connect to the "M" and Drinking Horse Mountain Trails.
The park is open 5am to 11pm.
