East of Richmond along the way to Cherry Peak Ski Resort is the Richmond Wildlife Management Area. In spring the hillside is lush green and dotted with wildflowers. There are fine views of Cherry Peak to the east and Cache Valley to the west. Hunters might access the foothills from here in fall.
There are currently no facilities at the parking area, nor is there a defined trail past the gate. Be prepared to cross a creek, which can flow fast and cold in spring. You may be able to follow the faint track of a field road if you bear to the right after crossing the creek and leaving the trees by the gate. Follow the rose bushes, then curve north across the field.
The cache will be unavailable each year from Jan 1 through the second weekend of April due to WMA closure.
This cache is part of the series, MountainHobbit's Mathoms, Year 14. Don't know what a mathom is? Check out Chapter 1 in the Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien to find out the reason for this hobbity celebration!
