[ITA] Porta San Felice
Porta San Felice appartiene alla terza e più recente cerchia di mura della città di Bologna, la Circla.
Costruita intorno al XIII secolo, la cerchia correva tutto intorno al perimetro della città, in corrispondenza di quelli che ora sono i Viali. Questa cinta muraria, di cui ora ci rimangono solo le porte e alcuni brevi tratti di muro, si estendeva per più di sette chilometri ed era circondata da un fossato sull'esterno.
Tra il 1902 e il 1906 le mura furono abbattute ma, grazie anche all'intervento di alcuni notabili dell'epoca, le porte vennero mantenute integre ad eccezione di Porta San Mamolo e Porta Sant'Isaia.
Porta San Felice sorge all'estremità ovest del centro storico. Fu costruita nel XIII secolo in laterizio, è stata dotata nel 1334 di rocca e ponte levatoio. Da porta San Felice hanno transitato spesso eserciti in marcia verso le battaglie. Da questa Porta si raggiungeva infatti Modena, il primo avamposto nemico dei ghibellini. Da Porta San Felice fu fatto entrare il prigioniero Re Enzo, figlio dell'imperatore Federico II di Svevia, che venne tenuto imprigionato presso il Palatium Novum (l'attuale Palazzo Re Enzo) fino alla sua morte. Nel 1325 l'esercito modenese ebbe la meglio su quello bolognese durante la battaglia di Zappolino e, raggiunta la Porta, rubò il secchio di un pozzo prospiciente in segno di scherno verso i bolognesi. Questa vicenda viene ricordata come la secchia rapita. Nel 1506 fu ristrutturata e nel 1509 dotata di un avancorpo a protezione del ponte. Successivamente subì un nuovo restauro nel 1840 e, infine, nel 1903 venne isolata dalle mura. Attraverso i lavori di restauro eseguiti fra il 2007 e il 2009, porta San Felice è stata riportata agli antichi splendori.

Porta San Felice belongs to the third and most recent city walls ring of Bologna, the Circla.
Built around the XIII century, the city walls surrounded the whole city's perimeter, alongside the streets that nowadays are called i Viali. At the time the city walls had a length of more than seven kilometres but nowadays only the gateways and small portions of walls remain.
Between 1902 and 1906 the walls were demolished but, thanks to the intercession of many important men, all the gateways were saved, except for Porta San Mamolo and Porta Sant'Isaia.
Porta San Felice was built during XIII century, and in 1334 was enlarged with a donjon and a drawbridge. From here, the military often departed heading for the battle fields. Porta San Felice was the gate towards the Ghibelline town of Modena. Through this gate was led the son of Frederick II of Sicily, King Enzo, held captive in Palatium Novum until his death. In 1325 the Modenese army won over the Bolognaise one in the battle of Zappolino; once reached the gate, the soldiers stole the bucket of a well to mock the inhabitants. This event is usually referred to as "la secchia rapita" (the kidnapped bucket, lit.). In 1506 the gate was renewed and in 1509 reinforced. Another renewal was performe in 1840 and, in 1903, the gate was isolated from the sorroundings walls. It was eventually renewed one last time in between 2007 and 2009.
