The Australian pine, Casuarina equisetifolia, is native to Southeast Asia, Northern Australia, and the Pacific Islands but is invasive in Florida, South Africa, India, and Brazil. The layer of needles pose a detrimental threat to understory plants by preventing seed growth. It also displaces native vegetation which are deep-rooted causing beach erosion and it disrupts sea turtle and American crocodile nesting.
This is a tribute cache in remembrance of a multi-cache, GCX86X, hidden in this area by tedcool almost 14 years ago. As mentioned in that cache page, this species is not a pine because it is an angiosperm rather than a conifer. An example of a native pine tree would be the Dade County or Southern Slash Pine, Pinus elliottii.
This cache is hidden in a shopping center so stealth is a must! You are seeking a camoed pill bottle. It should be a quick find!
