I thought of calling this cache ‘Mil Rock’, but the associations are just too heart-rending. (Any SF readers recognize the reference?) Otherwise it’s a pretty run-of-the-mill hide by a prominent feature on the Mill Hollow Trail.
The tough part is finding your way to it, with the main trail currently closed due to the work going on at Third Dam. I made my way here from Spring Hollow, following the trail along the river and taking the detour signs. If you come from there, try aiming for my Third Best Dam View cache, then taking the right-hand branch near the trees, then heading up Mill Canyon at the next main junction. (There's a shorter way, but it's harder to describe.) After finding the cache, continue past the cache up the trail for a few other caches, including my Stone Table and A Mile Up Mill Hollow caches! (It’s actually more like ¾ of a mile.)
Note: The Spring Hollow Trailhead may have a "Trail Closed" sign, but it apparently refers to the section of trail at Gus Lind Flat. The trail from Spring Hollow to Mill Hollow is open (otherwise, why would they put up detour maps where the trails fork?)
This cache is part of the series, MountainHobbit's Mathoms, Year 14. Don't know what a mathom is? Check out Chapter 1 in the Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien to find out the reason for this hobbity celebration!
