A chance for a get together celebrating 20 years of geocaching as well as being able to get out and celebrate now we are at Level one.
The event criteria stipulate that the event must last 2 hours. We can meet up at 10.30am and finished by 12.30 pm. I have made the time in the morning and also hopefully the weather may be warmer.
We will meet up in the small park at the corner of Rangiora Street and Karaka Street at 10.30am near the community Library and the Citadel cafe.
Please park in Karaka Street. I will be there all the time.
Geo Rally around the Castlecliff area. ( optional activities with staggered start)
You may bring bikes or travel by car or walk to complete the challenge.
Bike challenge will be suitable for biking and not cover a wide area/distance. The roads are quiet and mainly flat and suitable for children if they are comfortable riding along roads. I will mark the the stopping points on a map.
Car Challenge We will form into groups with two, three or four in each car. ( less carbon footprint) You will need to use a car GPS or your hand held GPS as you will need to put in co ordinates to find the information.
Walking Challenge you will need a GPS but the the information will be in the immediate area.
Please join into groups so everyone is include.
There are geocaches in the area so if you wish you may find them on your travels. .Hopefully there will be some new caches to find as well.
After completing the challenge in your own time and complete as much as you like and then meet back where we started, Please return around 11.45am or sooner when you finish.
We will meet back on the lawn after our ramble for a time meet and share stories and catch up with the geocaching community. You may like to bring chairs, a rug, a drink and something to eat. Take away coffee and food available next door at the Citadell cafe or dairy across the road.
You will need to bring if you would like to participate in the optional challenge
1.A clip board or cardboard with a clothes peg for your list and a pen/pencil.
2. GPS

Warm clothes, raincoat , beanie, as it can be cold and windy near the beach.
something to sit on as there is limited seating.
Please bring along any trackables as well. There will be plenty of time to share successes and challenges from others in the geocaching community.
There is a great park with flying fox for the younger children and a skateboard park. There are picnic tables nearby as well.
It will be cold so wrap up warmly and if the weather is wet and stormy I will move the event to our home and will put a note on the cache page on the Saturday morning
