One more Community Celebration Event to mark the 22nd anniversary of a game that began on May 3, 2000. Remember, Dave Ulmer, of Beaver Creek Oregon, placed his "stash" and put the coordinates on an internet group site. He thought of the "Great American GPS Stash Hunt". That was all it took for the Geocaching game to begin.
A different kind of event. One to mark the memories that we all have in geocaching. The goal is to build a "Memory Book". Once built, this memory book will travel from event host to event host in Southwest Michigan for all to share, and others to add their memories. To kick this off, I ask that you bring, on standard "letter" sized paper, a geocaching memory. This might be a memory of the oldest geocache you have found, or the farthest from home; the longest search to find your prize; a memorable gadget cache; the most adventurous cache you've found; the most challenging cache you've found; the most creative; your first cache; first FTF; or just your favorite cache. You get to choose what you bring and to share. After all, it's your memory!
Very helpful items are the GC Code, the date of your adventure, your geo-name, and the names of any in your party for that memory. We'll share these momories at the event, and then I'll add them to the "Memory Book". From there, I will add a tracking code (shared at the event), and send it on it's way at the nearest event to completing the collection.
Since it is the Holiday season, there may be hot cider and cookies. There are also fun caches to find in this park.
