With a recent wave of new players joining in the Owasso area, it is necessary to ensure that everyone is educated in Geocaching Etiquette. The Owasso Etiquette Series is intended to accomplish this goal.
A Lesson in Geocaching Etiquette:
Loggin' It
In Geocaching, it is super important to know all the rules to follow for logging caches to keep the game running smoothly.
In order to log a geocache as found, you MUST visit the location and sign the log. No "couch caching" allowed!
There is no stigma in logging a Did Not Find (DNF)! They are essential to letting the cache owners how things are going. However, just because you don't find a cache doesn't mean that it is missing or needs maintenance.
If you are certain that a cache has a full log, is missing the container, or is damaged or needs maintenance in another way, you may log a Needs Maintenance log. This alerts the cache owner that there is a problem with their cache. Only in cases of gross violation of Geocaching's rules or inactivity and ignoring Needs Maintenance logs should you log Needs Archived.
Lastly, let the cache owner you appreciate them by leaving them a little note or telling about a story at the cache! Never reveal information about a hide without the owner's permission.
Quick and easy find with parking nearby. Some tall grass but nothing too bad. Do not remove the top of the container from where it is attached- the bottom will screw right off :) If you are new, I hope you learned something! Good luck!
Congratulations on FTF, Rubyokie!
