Geocache Description:

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD TO THIS SERIES, PLEASE CONTACT THE SERIES OWNER (SEE BELOW)

We are often told (correctly, if somewhat ideologically), that geocaches should take us to somewhere "interesting", and not simply be placed just for the sake of it. The aim of this series is to try and adhere to this ideal by basing caches around details given on an Interpretation Board about the area in which it is situated. By definition, it is hoped that this information will be "interesting", and will help the cacher discover things about the area that would often not be revealed by a traditional cache.

Hello everyone, hope you're safe and well. Nice to be back caching again.

At the published co-ordinates, you will find an interpretation panel about the moat farm pool that is in front of you.

I have found an interesting story that might be of interest and also keep you up at night about the pool.

The Haunting of Moat Farm Pool

The legend of Moat Farm Pool, it is believed goes even further back than The Legend of the Fiery Horse. Moat Farm once stood where the new Moat Farm housing estate is today and the only part of the old farm left behind is a fragment of a once much larger pool. William Farmer (1901 - 1985), the original Pelsall historian wrote about the legend of Moat Farm Pool back in the 1950's. In his books, Pelsall Early Years of the 20th Century and Under Bluer Skies he states 'as children we were told that a coach and horses were lost in there one foggy night.' Based on William's age this is clearly a very old story that was passed down from generation to generation. Certainly in such poor weather conditions and under a veil of profound darkness it would have been quite plausible for such a terrible accident to happen. It has been recorded that on rare occasions an apparitional coach and horses can be seen hurtling uncontrolably towards Moat Farm Pool before it disappears.

Please find the answers to the following questions:

1/. Since when has local groups and the council been working together looking after the pool 19A0's

2/. On the main painting in the centre, how many ducks can you see swimming on the pond = B

3/. What year did the artist R Best paint the large picture in the centre = 199C

4/. How many flying insects can you see on the interpretation board = D

5/. Countrywide services telephone number on the side of the board 01922 4E1830

6/. How many trees are bordering the pool written on the interpretation panel = F

Checksum A+B+C+D+E+F = 27

The cache, is a large pill bottle with a push twist lid. It has been taped up by my 9yr old daughter when we attended a GAGB event a little while back. The log is inside a 35mm film pot to help keep dry. There are a couple of swag items and i have placed a TB inside to be moved on

Your prize is waiting for you at

N52 38.((E-F)((D*E)-A)(B*F))

W001 57.((B+C)((C*D)-A)((D*E)-B))

Please no spoiler photos of the cache hide in your log, other photos are acceptable.

Please note. After leaving the interpretation board to locate the cache you dont need to cross the road. It is an easy flat walk.

I hope that you find this an interesting variation on the caching experience. For a full list of all FYI caches in the series, please go to https://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?code=BM4RZ8H
