The Capital Area Greenway System became a reality in March 1974 after citizens became concerned about rapid growth and urbanization. The City of Raleigh responded with the Greenway master plan which permitted urban development while preserving Raleigh's characteristic natural beauty. Wake County currently maintains approxiimately 112 miles of greenway trails that run along low lying areas, through neighborhoods and connectors. Many of these greenways follow along the creeks and sewer lines...many of my greenway Geo-tours I refer to as my "Tour De Sewers" for that reason.
This was a great boardwalk that has a history of not so great planning...it has been closed quite a lot due to a wash out that has been fixed several times. They have been planning a re-route that will take a left at the boardwalk along the sewer and creek. Up the hill and around the car dealership to conect back at the other end of the (closed) boardwalk and continue under the bridge.
This is a simple two stage multi and shouldn't take that long to complete. It might puzzle you for a moment but it can be solved by a small child. Please replace as found for the next cacher. Pictures are fun but no spoilers :)
