Geocache Description:

A new cache placed in honor of my favorite trout fly, the Salmon Fly (Pteronarcys Californica). We travel down to the Gunnison river several times per year, and no trip is more highly anticipated than trying to time the arrival of these giant bugs! The nymphs live three to four years in the water before emergence. Immediately prior to emerging, the nymphs congregate near the shoreline in shallow water on partially exposed rocks. To emerge, the nymphs crawl from the water to rocks or the shore, and split the nymphal exoskeleton. The adults emerge from the exuviae ready to mate. The emergence is also followed closely by fly-fishermen, and is one of the highlights of the spring fishing season. You are searching for a log only camod' pill bottle placed in a very unique structure along the trail. I reckon this hike is around 3 to 3.5 miles round trip. This area can get really hot; with zero shade, so make sure you have plenty of sun screen, a hat and plenty of water before setting out. Happy Hunting, and BYOP!
