Geocache Description:

Spiromania #47

It's a puzzle cache. The cache is NOT at the posted coordinate but it's less than one kilometer away.

It's a field puzzle cache. You need to go near the posted coordinates. Once in the vicinity you will want to roam around in a circle, perhaps more than once, forming a helix with time as the 3rd coordinate.

The cache is at VK abcde fghij where:

  • abcde: 2nd Fall, II, John & Susana, Rosen family, His afflicted mother
  • fghij: Nic, Simon, Cyrene, Joseph and Veronica, Nic.

As is often the case in this series we will employ the UTM coordinate system. Note that the posted coordinates are UTM: 15T E 472204 N 4935473. This states that the cache is in zone 15T. E 472204 means that the easting coordinate is at 472204 meters in a positively centered easterly direction in that zone. N 4935473 means the cache is 4935473 meters north of the equator. That is the northing. The 15T zone is subdivided into subzones. All of our caches around here are in the VK subzone which assumes the leading 4 in the easting and the leading 49 in the northing. Thus UTM: 15T E 4abcde N 49fghij can be expressed simply as VKabcdefghij. This is the same as the Military Grid Reference System (MGRS). Once familiar with this system local navigation is quite simple. For example, an offset from one VK location to another can be regarded as so many meters east or west and so many meters north or south. Such is the case for this problem. Try it without reverting to lat/lon.

Should you care to use the coordinate checker to check your answer, convert to lat/lon, register that you've obtained the solution, or to get a hint on the hide, then enter your answer in the form VKabcdefghij.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
