There are a number of Cry Baby bridges in the U.S. Indeed, I know of two in Ohio which have geocaches by them. They are always at locations where a baby has drowned and is heard crying out. Wikipedia refers to these as "urban legends" but the story of our local Cry Baby bridge is true.
A car placed in neutral on the bridge will be pushed off toward Study Road by the woman who was trying to save her baby who drowned in the water below. This is why you see folks stop on the bridge, turn off their lights, roll down their windows, put the car in neutral, turn off the engine, and listen for the crying baby.
Friends of ours used to live in the house on the hill overlooking the bridge. While people would stop at the bridge year round, visits would increase significantly near Halloween. One year these neighbors put a baby monitor below the bridge and, when a car was sitting at the bridge, make baby crying noises. They said it was hilarious hearing the screams and watching the drivers scramble to leave.
Of course, normally a baby monitor is not required to hear the baby crying. Because, as I said, it is a true story.
