A simple offset multi. Charlie Miley never used a chainsaw and the axe was his tool of the trade. Born at Smoko in 1882, Charlie Miley eventually became a World Champion axman. After winning his first competition in 1905 in Harrietville at 19 years of age at the local Tavare Park – then Tavare’s paddock, he was winning competitions until 1932! AT 6’ and 17 stone, he swung a mean axe working as a woodcutter for the local miners starting at the Rose, Shamrock and Thistle and eventually becoming an axe salesman. The Charlie Miley walking trail starts at the carpark in the Clarrie Keating Memorial Park and branches off with a number of options and loops. The trail weaves through Chinese gold diggings, along the Ovens River and through the recreational reserve. These tracks are sign posted and offer further information on the significance of historical sites along the trails. GZ is along the track, and yes, you could get wet feet!
