The caching community in Wellington is in uproar! Littlebum11, a local cacher from the Somerset/Devon county border has been murdered over a FTF cache and the Welly caching squad is trying to solve this awful crime.
The trail is a circular route around the town of Wellington well known for its caches and cachers. It takes about 2 hours and the final is a further distance away.
As you go around you will have to find clues and eliminate either a suspect or a weapon. At the end of the trail you should have one suspect and one weapon left which will reveal the final location. It's best to print this off for walking around town.
So here we go with the list of famous and less well known suspects:

Here you will find an organisation that helps the needy creatures. Find a cacher's name which has a creature as part of the caching name, You can cross this cacher off your list as this cacher has been seen by the public taking a big ape for a walk down High St
STAGE 6: The Old Town Hall N50°58.709 W003°13.655
There might be a pub now but this used to be the old town hall. Which year was it erected? It is the same year the corn market opened. Cross this weapon off your list
STAGE 7: Monmouth Gardens - N50°58.731 W003°13.672
In this location there used to be an Inn. Find the name of the Inn. The 2nd NAME FIRST 3 LETTERS are the same as the first 3 letters of a well known Devon caching suspect. He was seen drinking here and the Mrs confirms his alibi. Therefore you can cross this suspect of your list.
STAGE 8: Cornhill - N50°58.727 W003°13.687
Cornhill is opposite Monmouth Gardens. At the co-ordinates you will see a front door with the number 7A on it. On the wall next to this door there is a large black object. A cacher has this object as part of the caching name. This cacher was seen on one of them down North Street so this caching name can be eliminated from the suspects.
STAGE 16: Wellington Baptist Church - N50°58.632 W003°13.583
Find 2 numbers here: one number under ARY EXT and the other under ST CH. Add them together and then divide by 2 to give you another weapon to cross off your list.
STAGE 9: 13 Fore St - N50°58.685 W003°13.686
This shop closed during the pandemic and another business has taken over the premises. Dotty Dolly used to be here. Cross Dottydora off the list of suspects.

STAGE 11: Hardware shop - N50°58.651 W003°13.745
Further along from the money place you come to a hardware shop. What year is on the building? Cross this weapon off your list.

From the Squirrel Inn / Wellington Museum cross the street again and walk down the lane through the car park down the lane to North Street. Now back up again to High Street via the car park. Cross over and turn right and walk down to the corner of Mantle St and Champford Mews. The house on the corner is NOT in the East End. What year is on the house? Cross this weapon off your list.
STAGE 15: Wellington Park - N50°58.762 W003°14.134
From Champford Mews turn left crossing the road walking towards St John Fisher. Near the church you have a lane called Rookery Terrace. Walk down that lane. It will take you to Wellington Park. Go to the bottom of the park where ou will find a house. On the house there is a plaque. One vowel is not on this plaque. Eliminate all suspects from your list who have this vowel in their caching name. These suspects were seen at a caching event in the park at the time of murder.
If you have done your job correctly you should have one suspect who is the muderer and one weapon left. Put together they will give you the final co-ordinates (Northings and Westings).
Also I would like to add that the outcome is nothing personal and its just the way things worked out with what we have in town.
I hope you local cachers and those from the surrounding area enjoyed this little game of Murder Mystery as much as i have enjoyed creating it.
The cache is at waist height behind a cut off tree under bark left side of lane. Stealth may be required and please rehide well.
AS IT IS A LETTERBOX CACHE, PLEASE LEAVE THE STAMP IN THE CACHE! THANK YOU!
