The Black Brook starts very near to Horseyeat - just below the old railway line.
It makes its way down through the valley, passing through Walkhampton before feeding into the river Walkham.
At Walkhamptoin it fed Walkham Mill by a 17metre launder. Remains of this can still be seen in the village. The Mill was a water-powered wheelwrights shop from the mid 19th century and continued in use until the 1980’s.
The stepping stones are well used by walkers but in the winter can be a little difficult to cross!
