The parish of St Richard's encompasses Hanworth south of the A316 and parts of north Hampton - a total of around 6000 people. Situated at the closed end of a residential street and next to a nature reserve and network of bridle paths that are well worth exploring, a kink in the borough boundary keeps it in Hounslow rather than Richmond borough.
From where you are standing you can see the beautifully refurbished green roof of Hanworth's newest church. It was designed by Leslie Channing and built in 1964 to serve the growing needs of the community in Hanworth South. Its spire, which looks rather like a pair of compasses, can be seen from Hampton in the south to Kempton Park.
The church believes in working to serve the needs of its community. Many a Hanworth resident will remember attending the church's holiday playschemes as a child and bringing their parents along to the sausage sizzles at the end of the week.
It offers a range of house groups, youth clubs and social events all open to the local community.
In 2015, the church joined in partnership with the neighbouring primary school, which was renamed St Richard's CE Primary.
St Richard's Church also serves as the place of worship for the local Tamil Christian community, the Church of the Living God.
This cache is accessible from the street and there is no need to venture onto any private land. However it is very busy, as there is a church, a park and a school all at the end of the road, so stealth is required. TOTT or tippy toes may be needed if you are vertically challenged.
