Geocache Description:

The cache is not located at the posted coordinates. However, the posted coordinates will take you to a nice wetlands park. Sorry, no dogs allowed. If you visit this park first, you may decide to participate in a "Lab Adventure" there.

You may obtain the final coodinates by solving this puzzle or by completing the "Lab Adventure" at the nearby park.

While enjoying a morning cup of coffee, I went through my collection of historic newspapers and found an interesting article in the November 28, 1918 edition of the Hillsboro Argus. It seems that a widow tried to sue a local logging RR, but lost her case.   The widow’s father (Jacob Hoover) crossed the prairie in 1844 in a covered wagon to settle on farmland near North Plains. The widow’s father-in-law (John Killin) crossed the prairie in a covered wagon in 1845 to settle on farmland in Clackamas County.  Her deceased husband (Benton) was a prominent attorney in Oregon City and she was the first woman to graduate from Pacific University in Forest Grove in 1869.  She served lunch at the June 19, 1913  Oregon Pioneers Association renunion in Portland (The Morning Oregonian), she was an avid rose horticulturist and, at one time, she owned all of the land that the park sits on.

  1. No. of words in the title of the RR (Do not count "&" and “Railroad”) = a
  2. No. letters in the widow’s first name = b
  3. Dollar amount of the lawsuit = c
  4. Number of acres burned = d
  5. Day in August the fire occurred = e
  6. Minimum jury cost $ = f
  7. No. of lawyers for the railway company = g

I also enjoyed reading the article about the man who bit his tongue. But that article or the photo below won’t help you solve this puzzle. Beware of too much information and retain your digits.

(c/(a x b)) x 0.2076878374 = Latitude

((d x f)/(e x g)) x 1.368485 = Longitude

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
