Plenty of parking next to the cache at the intersection of Hwy 35 & 48, or what we call "Otis Corner" - read the story below for the reason why! Be mindful of vehicles as you walk across the road to the start searching. Careful walking down the enabnkment too. Cache is a medium-sized plastic container. Wintertime caching may not be possible if there's snow. Also, snow-park permit may be needed during Winter if you plan to stay long.
Our daughter loaded the cache up with goodies to start including a Travel Bug we've held on to way too long. Kudos to whomever gets that thing moving again. Please check out but leave the photo of Otis the dog in the cache. Enjoy!
The story behind Otis Corner: Otis was a gentle 130 pound giant black lab that loved fetch, water and family. One sunny day we were on our way to Pine Hollow Reservoir for a weekend full of his favorite things. Otis had just stood up from his nap in the back seat when our vehicle hit a pothole on this turn. The momentum sent our "Dogzilla" flying out the narrow window opening! In shock, we quickly stopped in the road to find Otis wobbly-legged and stunned as to how he ended up outside our vehicle! A ranger just ahead of us turned his pickup around because he thought it was a black bear coming out of the woods! Once the ranger made sure all was well and Otis was once again comfy in the backseat, we pulled away shaking our heads about the whole unlikely situation. Just then a large fully-loaded log truck came around the corner where we all were JUST standing! From that day on, we named this spot "Otis Corner" in memory of our beloved "Bubba" Otis.
