Geocache Description:

Magazine Building is located at the summit of Magazine Island – a small island just west of Ap Lei Chai in the East Lamma Channel. The magazine was built in 1887-1888 by the British Dynamite Company (later the Nobel’s Explosive Company). It was one of the largest private explosives depot in Hong Kong. Because of military reason and its competiveness against the government’s depot the government refused to renew the company’s contract in 1908 and magazine was finally closed.

The cache

We have often seen this island from Aberdeen and wondered why there was no cache here. So today we rented a boat and hid two caches here.

On the map, there is a trail leading up to the building from a pier. However, this ‘trail’ gives you little more than a rough direction of how to get here. Bushwhacking is necessary!

The cache is beneath a geopile next to a boulder from which you can see Lamma Island.
