Geocache Description:

Aesculus hippocastanum L.

The horse-chestnut or conker tree (Aesculus hippocastanum L.) is a species in the family Sapindaceae, the lychee family. It is a large deciduous tree growing to about 39 metres, with palmately compound leaves, white synoecious flowers with a yellow to pink blotch at the base of the petals, green spiky fruits with glossy nut-brown seeds.

Native to the Pindus Mountains mixed forests, it is widely cultivated in parks and streets across the temperate regions, especially in the UK and New Zealand. It is also a favourite amongst bonsai enthusiasts.

Depending on your climbing capability, you may need to improvise something for the first stage of this climb (a ladder, a friend, whatever). The rest should be straightforward.

Please know your limitations and do NOT attempt to reach this cache if you are unsure of your climbing abilities but if you go for it do at your own risk.

This cache is classed as a T4 because it is hard to be reached. Simply spotting the container from the ground is not enough to claim a find. You must sign the logsheet or your log will be deleted.
