RLT - Road Less Travelled
Take the scenic back roads between Kauring and Quairading, travel down the fully sealed Cubbine road past the historical Cubbine homestead (private property please don’t enter).
While travelling down Cubbine road you will pass through the localities of Rickeys, Balkuling, Doodenanning, Dulbelling, and Cubbine, where a wide variety of farming land can be seen. Wide open paddocks stocked with sheep or cropped with wheat or such; you may even be lucky enough to come across a golden crop of canola.
A few tips for travelling Cubbine road:
1: Is a single lane road for a major portion, so if you see on coming traffic please slow down and ease off to the side, approx half your vehicles width. (Take caution in winter months due to soft edges)
2: May have light debris on the road especially in winter months or after a storm.
3: Keep an eye out for stray sheep and kangaroos as both are very common on the road.
4: Please drive to the conditions as the road surface changes frequently even though it is all sealed. The road also has some very sharp deceiving bends.
5: When stopping for a cache please close car doors as there was an incident a few years back in the summer where a snake entered a tourists car when they were taking photos.
Three Way, is an intersection of three roads, Cubbine, Waghorn and Balkuling North.
