Geocache Description:

My Life in Confinement

I don't talk about it much, but my teen age years were spent confined to a youth camp located near GZ. The camp was officially called, "Winters Home for Incorrigible Youth," but we just called it "The Camp."  This facility housed some of the most dangerous youth in California--me included.

I was sentenced for 7 years for stealing a police car.  But I was innocent! How was I to know it was the sheriff's car?

At GZ, look at the nearby structure. You wouldn't know it, but years ago, there were 200 delinquents housed in that building.  The guards lived upstairs, and the inmates lived downstairs, in the area that is now a park.

It really wasn't too bad, except the internet was really slow.  Back then, all we had was an old TRS-80 and a 1200 baud modem.  We were always scheming on some crazy business idea. For a while, we brewed beer and sold it to the guards.  If you look around, you might see some of the old fermentation tanks.

Sometimes us kids would break out and go geoaching.  Sometimes the guards played too, but they were a dull lot, always looked at the hint.  Sometimes we put GZ in the creek and watched them swim around.  They were usually pretty mad afterwards.

Anyway, one time us kids hid a cache close by.  Is it still there?
