Coverack is a small fishing village with a harbour protected from the prevailing SW winds.
On 18th July 2017 the village suffered a freak storm and many parts of the village were badly flooded with at least one family being rescued by helicopter. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coverack
On the “Sunny Corner” side the flooding was as severe and one lady had to be rescued by the placers of this GC by breaking down the door to her house to let the rising water and mud escape. We managed to get her out without even getting her feet wet!
Behind you as you find the GC is a new retaining wall where the old one washed away and flooded the houses below.

During the flood

The damage immediately after the flood (and the wall colapsed)
The land behind the row of cottages also flooded the cottages and filled some with feet of mud.
On the 3rd anniversary of the floods we have established this GC – many people walk past the houses (they are on the SW Coast Path) and many comments are made about what happened – some moderately accurate, some much less so! We are more or less back to normal now – but we will never forget that day!
