[ITA] Via Saragozza 63, sabato pomeriggio del 6 dicembre 1930. L’orefice Gaetano Rava si appresta ad aprire il suo negozio per preparare la vetrina natalizia. Quel pomeriggio entrano due ragazzi, vestiti elegantemente. Il più giovane dei due aveva ordinato qualche oggetto da regalo, mentre l’altro se ne stava sulla soglia della porta. Il giovane dai modi gentili stava trattando per l’acquisto di alcuni articoli, ma improvvisamente la gentilezza svanì e l’orefice si ritrovò di fronte ad un rapinatore. Non era la prima volta che Gaetano Rava aveva ricevuto delle minacce armate, e con un rapido gesto aveva afferrato la canna del revolver per cercare di strapparlo dalle mani del rapinatore. Fu una lotta rapida dove intervenne anche il socio del rapinatore, e subito partirono due colpi. Rava cadde a terra e i due malviventi scapparono, scomparendo nel nulla. Dopo alcuni minuti un cliente entrò in negozio, e non vedendo l’orefice era tornato fuori chiedendo ad alcuni del posto: “Avete visto il signor Rava?”, “Non c’è in negozio?”. “No!” era stata la risposta. “Strano!” dissero i negozianti vicini “non lo abbandona mai”. Al cliente si erano aggiunte altre persone, che una volta entrate nel negozio scoprirono l'orefice dietro il bancone, in un lago di sangue. Avvisata la polizia, il primo ad accorrere era stato il maresciallo Petti, un uomo che conosceva la zona e che poco dopo si era precipitato con la sua auto alla ricerca dei due criminali.Vicino alla Certosa, ad un incrocio, notò due giovani che correvano e di tanto in tanto si guardavano alle spalle. Il maresciallo li raggiunse e notò che sbiancarono in viso. Li fece ammanettare e perquisire: in tasca di uno dei due venne trovato con tre catenine d’oro, un braccialetto d’oro massiccio e nella tasca dell’altro un portafoglio contenente 2300 lire. I due furono immediatamente condotti in questura. I due assassini si erano incontrati in una casa di tolleranza e avevano stretto amicizia. Ai primi di dicembre si erano ritrovati senza soldi e così decisero di ripiegare su una rapina. I due si resero rei confessi e al processo tentarono di scagionarsi, incolpandosi a vicenda. Nel corso dell'indagine purtroppo l’orefice morì, aggravando la posizione dei due e il pubblico che assistette al dibattito invocò la pena di morte, ma tutto finì con una pesante condanna al carcere per entrambi.

That afternoon two boys enter, dressed elegantly. The younger of the two had ordered some gift items, while the other stood in the doorway. The gentle-mannered young man was negotiating to purchase some items, but suddenly the kindness vanished and the goldsmith found himself in front of a robber. It was not the first time that Gaetano Rava had received armed threats, and with a quick gesture he had grabbed the barrel of the revolver to try to snatch it from the robber's hands. It was a quick fight where the robber's partner also intervened, and immediately two shots were fired. Rava fell to the ground and the two thugs ran away, disappearing into thin air. After a few minutes, a customer entered the shop, and not seeing the goldsmith, he returned and asked some of the locals: "Have you seen Mister Rava?", "Isn't there in the shop?". "No!" had been the answer. "Strange!" the neighboring shopkeepers said "never leaves him". Other people joined the customer, who once inside the shop discovered the goldsmith behind the counter, in a lake of blood. When the police were notified, the first to rush was Marshal Petti, a man who knew the area and who shortly afterwards had rushed with his car in search of the two criminals. Near the Charterhouse, at an intersection, he noticed two young men running and occasionally they looked over their shoulder. The marshal joined them and noticed that they bleached their faces. He had them handcuffed and searched: in one of the two pockets he was found with three gold chains, a solid gold bracelet and in the other pocket a wallet containing 2300 lire. The two were immediately taken to the police headquarters. The two killers had met in a house of tolerance and had made friends. In early December they found themselves without money and so they decided to fall back on a robbery. The two became guilty of confession and tried to exonerate each other by blaming each other. During the investigation, unfortunately, the goldsmith died, aggravating the position of the two and the public who attended the debate invoked the death penalty, but it all ended with a heavy prison sentence for both of them.
