Geocache Description:

Sir Hans Sloane was born in Killyleagh in the 17th century. A physician by trade, Sir Hans Sloane was also a collector of objects from around the world. By his death in 1753 he had collected more than 71,000 items. Sloane bequeathed his collection to the nation in his will and it became the founding collection of the British Museum. He is also known as one of the inventors of drinking chocolate. If you have time, visit the Sir Hans Sloane Centre in High street to find out more about this interesting man.

His statue in Killyleagh is Stage one of this simple 2-stage multi, and you will find the information you need there.

The final stage coordinates are; N54 24.ABC W005 39.DEF

A = the fourth figure in his birth year

B = the second figure in his birth year + the fourth figure of his death year

C = the third figure of his birth year - the third figure of his death year

D = the first figure of his death year

E = the number of letters in the third word of the location of the original statue

F = the first figure of the year this statue was unveiled / the last figure of the year this statue was unveiled.

Lots of muggles at final location, so please exercise caution, so that the cache will survive in this busy area!

During the Covid-19 lockdown, one half of Tusker Squadron ran 5K every day in May to raise funds for charity. This series of caches was on one of the routes used every day, so we had to commemorate it somehow.
