Congrats to dm92 on FTF!!
The cache is NOT at posted coordinates (but it is a great place to start).
This is the bonus mystery cache for completing the ‘Historic Julian 1870 - 2020, Celebrating 150 years’ Adventure Lab.
You must complete that adventure lab in order to learn the final coordinates for this cache.
After each correct answer, a clue to the final coordinates will appear in the Adventure Lab ‘journal’.
Your adventure can begin after downloading the new Adventure Lab app. or clicking on the URL link below.
You can access the Adventure Lab using this URL: https://labs.geocaching.com/goto/Julian
As a added bonus, you may obtain a yellow JULIAN HISTORIC HUNT (JHH) card on the porch to the left of the front door (at the posted coordinates of Town Hall). The JHH card will direct you to historical markers around the town to gather the requested information. After you have completed that walking tour, return the completed card, during the business hours of 10-4, Monday - Thursday, to receive a prize. Tell the clerk (Robin) that you are a geocacher to receive a bonus gift from the town of Julian.
Not required: Please upload your pictures (no spoilers please) from your adventure & log your experience. What season did you visit in? What other events, shops, eateries, etc., did you enjoy while visiting Historic Julian?
There is only room for the log so please bring your own writing/stamping implement.
I chose Julian as the location for this AL because, over the years, I have spent a lot of time in here. I love this town & the surrounding area. I have so many memories in Eloise's (my ‘second’ mom) former home on Royal Drive, at the Pine Hills Lodge, the many weekends spent at Camp Marston with the (then) caretaker's family, at sixth grade camp in Cuyamaca & at Girls Scout camp. As this Adventure Lab and bonus Mystery cache were being created, a lot of these great memories came flooding back (including a scary one). One the first day of research here, several siren blaring fire rigs screamed through town. Those make folks around here understandably nervous. The town of Julian was almost lost to a few fires, the most devastating being the Cedar fire in 2003. Memories of evacuation assistance are forever imbedded. Julian has always been my home away from home.
I hope you learned a lot about the history of Julian and enjoyed your time here as much as I always do. Try a pie or two!
It’s always a good idea to check weather (especially in winter) and fire danger conditions before making the trip up.
A huge 'thank you' to HVYripper for his patience and help with the beta testing of the Adventure Lab and this cache. Especially, for the creation/construction of the first final geocache container.
Another huge 'thank you' to pfalstad for creating another final geocache container that went missing.
Thanks to the raod maintenence crew for maintaining the reflector next to the tree.
