Geocache Description:

03 October 2020, 18:00 - 20:00

Well everybody had such a great time at the 1st Annual Camp the San Jac River we decided to do it again, albeit hopefully warmer! We also decided we would make this a two day camp out to allow one full day of geocaching, relaxing, etc. Below is event details and other side events which will be published separately.

Event Location – N 30° 1.899 W 95° 10.415

*Note - 1* - In the event of significant rain and / or flooding prior to event Team 150% will make a determination if lake level / river current is ok for camping and paddling. Please keep watch on Event Page for Announcements. Recognize in Houston that during hurricane season there is always a chance for a large rain event however we specifically chose this camp site for it's high(er) elevation which will allow camping except during a true flood event.

*Note 2* - There is parking in the King Harbor Parking Garage however we do not recommend parking here long term (ie overnight) as they may tow particularly if we have a lot of attendees. For overnight camping we recommend dropping off gear and then parking up the road at the Old HEB coordinates and riding a Uber back to the dock.

Event Time - 10/3/20 @ 18:00 - Dinner at Sharky's at King Harbor. Islanders and Landlubbers alike are invited. Team 150% will ferry the Islanders to the event. Reservations will be required so I will need a final count of "Will Attends" 5 days before the event.

Note - The dinner at Sharky's will be dependent on COVID-19 rules at the time.  Based on current Texas and Harris County orders this event is possible.

All Events

GC8WYQJ – The 1.73 Annual Camp the San Jac River - 10/3/20 @ 22:00 - Event to be held on an island in the middle of the West Fork of the San Jacinto River. This island is slightly less sandy than the camp ground for the 1st camp out and it is covered in river birch trees for shade. The island is also fairly narrow thus everybody will not have to haul camping gear as far onto island and will give everybody a river view! One big change.....It is NOT necessary to have a kayak or canoe to attend however your ability to cache will be limited. We will provide transportation to and from the island for all of those interested in camping that do not have a kayak or canoe. In addition, while the event time is listed as 8:00 PM, we will be on or around the island all day long caching and anybody that reaches the island on 10/3/20 at any time is welcome to log the event.
