NB: Portare una penna. Per raggiungere il cache e la sorgente bisogna percorrere un breve sentiero largo e semplice. Si può parcheggiare sia in alto, al valico (seguire il sentiero per 2/3 minuti), che in basso, all'hotel, (seguire il sentiero per circa 15/20 minuti, oltrepassando la sorgente). In entrambi i casi sono presenti delle indicazioni per la sorgente. Le coordinate potrebbero non essere precise di qualche metro, affidarsi alle spoiler pics.

IT: La sorgente, dalla quale nasce il Fiume Sacro ai Destini di Roma, prende vita all'interno di un bosco di faggi grazie a rigagnoli d'acqua che nascono dalle pendice del Monte Fumaiolo (1.407 s.l.m.) per percorre 406 fino alla sua foce, a Ostia.
Il 15 agosto del 1934 fu inaugurata la stele che indica la sorgente del Tevere. E' in travertino locale, alta 5 metri poggiante su un plinto e sormontata da un'aquila imperiale in bronzo, teste di lupa con anelli adornano lateralmente il monumento su cui è l'iscrizione: "Qui nasce il fiume sacro ai destini di Roma - O.N.D. - XV agosto MCMXXXIV. A. XII. E.F."
Il comune di Verghereto, che è il luogo dove si trova la sorgente, faceva parte della Toscana, ma nel 1927 Mussolini fece modificare i confini in modo che la sorgente del Tevere si trovasse nella provincia di FC. Questo avvenimento venne celebrato con un’importante manifestazione, in tale occasiono fu prodotta la stele. Nell’ambito dell’ideologia fascista che recuperava in chiave retorica la mistica e le insegne dell’Impero Romano, il Tevere, in quanto metaforica nutrice della “città eterna”, rappresentava un simbolo particolarmente significativo. In questa prospettiva, la possibilità di istituire un parallelismo fra i natali del fiume Tevere e quelli del Duce, rappresentava un’operazione propagandistica particolarmente ghiotta.
Ma è veramente quella la sorgente del Tevere? Guardando attentamente si notano due confluenze fra diverse "vene", un po' più a valle. Tre vene, dunque, si uniscono e danno luogo ai primi tratti del fiume. Ma a che quote nascono? Di certo, ove adesso è il famoso "sito" realizzato da Mussolini, non nasce il fiume. La bocca da cui sgorga l'acqua è al termine di un tratto intubato, e non si può capire da dove si origini quell'acqua!

But is that really the source of the Tiber? Looking closely you can see two confluences between different "veins", a little further downstream. Three veins, therefore, come together and give rise to the first stretches of the river. But what estimate are born? Of course, where the famous "site" created by Mussolini is now, the river does not arise. The mouth from which the image flows is the end of an intubated tract, and one cannot understand where that water originates from!
